The End Poverty, Not Welfare! campaign was developed by LIFETIME Parent Leaders to promote public policies that help parents graduate off welfare – and out of poverty – for good.
We believe that parents affected by county, state and federal welfare policies should always have a voice in the creation of those policies. That is why the campaign and all its activities are lead and guided by our Parent Leadership Committee (PLC) and our board of directors . If you are interested in joining our board, contact LIFETIME. For new and potential parent leaders, LIFETIME offers several leadership development activities, advocacy trainings, and political education events throughout the year.
The goal of the campaign is to gain improved county, state and federal welfare and education policies that challenge institutionalized oppression of low-income families. This includes protecting and expanding safety nets for low-income families and children, removing welfare time limits, requiring protections and services for domestic violence survivors, and ensuring that all low-income parents have access to education, training and jobs at wages that support their families.
