Mamas on the move!!

The End Poverty, Not Welfare! campaign was developed by LIFETIME Parent Leaders to promote public policies that help parents graduate off welfare – and out of poverty – for good.

We believe that parents affected by county, state and federal welfare policies should always have a voice in the creation of those policies. That is why the campaign and all its activities are lead and guided by our Parent Leadership Committee (PLC) and our board of directors . If you are interested in joining our board, contact LIFETIME. For new and potential parent leaders, LIFETIME offers several leadership development activities, advocacy trainings, and political education events throughout the year.

The goal of the campaign is to gain improved county, state and federal welfare and education policies that challenge institutionalized oppression of low-income families. This includes protecting and expanding safety nets for low-income families and children, removing welfare time limits, requiring protections and services for domestic violence survivors, and ensuring that all low-income parents have access to education, training and jobs at wages that support their families.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Since its inception in 1996, LIFETIME has been leading efforts to increase access to education and training, put an end to time limits and stringent work participation restrictions, and instill protections in TANF for domestic violence survivors.

LIFETIME presents its findings during its "Family Violence is Not an Option" briefing in Washington D.C.
box State Budget Work
Every year, we organize to protect our children and families from proposed cuts to the health and human services budget that would negatively impact our children, our families, and California’s future.
box Education Works!
With Parent Leaders and Service providers working together, LIFETIME strives to improve access to education for all. This includes increasing the number of CalWORKs parents using education and training as part of their work activities, while also increasing knowledge of and access to resources for education and training so more low-income parents can enroll in, continue, and complete educations and training programs and get good paying jobs.
