Shared Prosperity Forum:
LIFETIME
and community groups around the state will be joining together for the
2010 California Shared Prosperity Forum!
Friday August 6 and Saturday August 7 will be a day of consciousness-raising, education and community action about the upcoming Governor's election in November, and a chance to meet and network with community groups and activists from all over the state of California.
(Transportation and lodging will be provided for LIFETIME parents who want to attend, both from Northern California and Southern California.)
The Forum will take place from 3pm to 6pm Saturday Aug 7

Community leaders will present stories from parents in their communities, and ask questions about the candidates' plans for California, specifically on the subjects of state budget, education, and immigrant rights.
That morning, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, we will also participate in workshops so we'll be informed about the issues in the upcoming election in November:
- Budget Reform
- Immigrants' rights in California
- Power analysis and how we can increase community voter engagement
Travel & Hotel Information for Parents in Northern California
A bus will be departing from Oakland on Friday August 6; returning late Saturday Aug 7
Bus departs Oakland around 1:00 and stops in San Jose around 2:30 - (precise departure times and additional stops will be coming soon)
Arrive at Holiday Inn Express 9:00 pm on Friday, August 6 th.
Travel & Hotel Information for Parents in Orange and Los Angeles Counties:
There are rides available with LIFETIME parent leaders who will be driving from Orange and Los Angeles Counties on the evening of Friday, August 6 th. If you're a parent in either of those counties and need a ride, please contact Randyl Pamphlet at LIFETIME's Bay Area office at 510-352-5160 or 888-404-7726.
The forum will end Saturday evening at 6pm, and we will be traveling back to the Bay Area and Southern California that evening. For Bay Area parents, we expect to be back Saturday around midnight. For parents in Orange and Los Angeles Counties, the drive time is approximately 2 hours, depending on traffic.
What to bring:
Comfortable clothing (weather there is about 70 degrees, but could be hotter)
Snacks for the bus ride there and back
