LIFETIME parent leaders discuss important welfare rights and higher education issues at a Parent Leadership Committee Meeting

LIFETIME's Parent Leadership Committee (PLC) is a statewide committee of CalWORKs and other low-income parents who guide, develop, and implement our End Poverty, Not Welfare! Campaign. Through the PLC, parents learn critical organizing, advocacy, and leadership skills and develop policy recommendations to change the local, state, and national policies that keep our families poor.

Since 2001, over 300 CalWORKs and other low-income parents have worked together to increase access to education & training, and protect & expand the services and resources that support their ability to achieve their goals for education, employment and economic security.

The Parent Leadership Committee meets several times a year at statewide summits and regional PLC meetings. We also hold monthly membership meetings in the Bay Area and Los Angeles Area. All meetings and summits are open to everyone.

Parent Leadership Committee Summits are three-day statewide events for new and returning parents to come together, learn more about issues affecting their lives, and emplower each other to take action! Summits are a great way to get involved in our organizing work, whether you're just starting to work with us or have been with us for 10 years!

Parent Leadership Committee Meetings are one to two-day regional events located all around the state. PLC meetings are an opportunity for PLC members and other parent leaders to come together and plan current and future campaign events and activities.

PLC Membership Meetings are monthly meetings held in the Bay Area and Los Angeles Area to recruit and welcome new members to LIFETIME.

Bay Area Membership Meetings are held once a month at 6:30 pm. Please contact LIFETIME at (510)352-5160 if you are interested in attending.

Los Angeles Area Membership Meetings are generally held the 4 th Sunday of every month at 1 pm. Please contact Angelica at (562) 712-9658 if you are interested in attending.
