- The Dr. Betty Shabazz Family Center at City College of San Francisco and the Stay-in-School Family Center at San Francisco State University are student-run family resource centers that give low-income student-parents the support they need to stay in school—despite welfare reform.

- Student-parents in Alameda and Santa Clara counties meet monthly with county officials to develop policies to help CalWORKs parents gain access to higher education & high wage jobs.
