What
is the San Francisco Student Parent Scholar Program?
The
SF Student Parent Scholar Program is designed to assist CalWORKs
college students who have been sanctioned due to inability
to fulfill the 32/35-hour core/non-core Welfare to Work activity
requirement, or have reached the end of the 60-month time
limit on cash aid. This program allows the student to continue
her/his college education without a loss of income by replacing
the sanctioned benefits with a financial aid grant. The program
is funded by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and Department
of Human Services and administered by LIFETIME.
If
you answer yes to all of the following questions, you may
be eligible for the program.
- Are
you a San Francisco resident?
- Are
you and/or your children receiving cash aid?
- Will
you or have you been sanctioned because of the 60-month
time limit?
- Will
you or have you been sanctioned due to inability to fulfill
your 32/35-hour core/non-core Welfare to Work activity requirements?
- Are
you attending an accredited college/university at least
75% time (9 units) in a degree program with a minimum GPA
of 2.0? (If you have a documented learning disability, the
minimum unit requirement is adjusted.)
