In
response to TANF reauthorization, LIFETIME organized the Parent
Leadership Committee on TANF Reauthorization, a statewide
committee of 42 mothers and fathers who are pursuing or have
completed college degrees while raising families on welfare.
Between
June and August of 2001, committee members met to discuss
and develop recommendations for TANF reauthorization that
will help rather than hinder low-income populations. From
this, the committee produced a position
paper in order to influence the out come of TANF reauthorization.
